Hi! My name is Jeannette Rose. I am CFO and acting manager of Dewey’s Diggs, CSG’s first transitional house for offenders reentering society after release from prison. This is our first official blog after 2 years of working at getting our website up & running. Computers are definitely not our line of work, but very much a part of today’s world, so we keep struggling (albeit intermittently!) to make it the useful tool we know it should be.
It is my plan to share this communication responsibility with the rest of the board of directors and perhaps an occasional guest blogger. I am going to leave it to Phil K., our founder & fearless leader, to bring you up to speed on who we are & how we got here. You will eventually find a synopsis for each of us on the “Who We Are” page.
Meanwhile…….
At the age of 67, I had my first unemployed summer since I was 14. I married for the LAST time, planning to spend my golden years puttering in my garden, participating in the Civil Air Patrol with my husband, fishing & biking as a pair & spending time with my family. Can you hear God laughing? He has a very twisted sense of humor! Now I am pseudo mom to a bunch of men whose development ceased at whatever age they became enmeshed with their own particular demons. I won’t bore you with the ugly details in the middle. Now life is often frustrating, sometimes confusing, never boring and I can hardly wait to see what’s next.
We have tried to get as much info onto this web site to be clear about what we are doing. We will always be happy to answer honest questions and hope to share our successes as well as failures. The thing most often said about me is that you never have to wonder where I stand, and I rarely back off of a challenge. So bring it on!
I look forward to getting to know lots of people who are concerned about all the wasted lives……….
Jeannette
